Vibratex Mystic Wand Review

Ah, the Mystic Wand. Rumored to be as strong as the legendary Hitachi, but with major improvements- including using only 4 AA batteries as the power source. By sheer luck, I received this toy from Babeland via a contest. It was a very pleasant surprise- I'd been planning to try the toy out under the context of a review or not.

As someone who needs a lot of power to get off clitorally, and who loves using powerful vibrators in combination with other silicone toys, I had planned to put this thing through it's paces- and oh, I did. The packaging is standard for Vibratex, clear plastic with designs on the outside, and a generic, mildly informative info slip. The toy came with a storage pouch, as seen in the picture, which is nice because it means it wont come into contact with any other silicone toys in storage.

It is, obviously, a great deal smaller than the Hitachi Magic Wand, and cordless. It's
waterproof, made of a smooth, velvet cote plastic for the body and soft, lovely silicone for the head. There are places where gunk can collect, but the silicone head cover can be rolled up to get at these places.

It's easy enough to clean- since it has a motor, you shouldn't boil it, but you could wipe down the head with a 10% bleach solution to sterilize it if you wanted to. You can also use soap and water, toy cleaner, or toy wipes- my personal favorite. It's compatible with water based lubricant only, but there are tons of water based lubes to choose from.

So now we come to the big question. Is it as strong as the Hitachi? Is it every bit as strong, pelvis-numbing, mind-blowing as the Hitachi? The easy answer is No. No it's not.

...But- Yes, there's always a but- it ALMOST is. I would say the highest level of vibration on the Mystic is just about equal to the low setting on the Hitachi. The difference isn't in the strength of the vibrations themselves, but perhaps the hardware used to produce them. The Hitachi is large, hard, and unforgiving, while the Mystic is small, soft, and very flexible. Because of this, the vibrations come off as less harsh and yes, a little bit weaker.

Despite it not being the same powerhouse the Hitachi is, it is still extraordinarily strong and amazingly versatile. I would reach for this before reaching for the Hitachi any day. The Mystic Wand is not really much quieter, but it is easier to use and you can grind on it, use it on your bed, under covers- all those silly things the Hitachi's manual warns you NOT to do. Most importantly, there is NO cord and no waiting for it to charge.

It's small, it's easy to position, and it could be used much more easily than the Hitachi during partner sex. It also comes with three speeds and three patterns, all of which are easily accessed via the press of a button- and it has a separate power button for times when you need it to turn off immediately. None of that can be said for the Hitachi, which has a cumbersome, ancient switch that I know I've had issues with- turning it to high accidentally when I was trying to turn it off, for example.

The Mystic Wand is a great toy. I like it, and I like it MORE than the Hitachi. One of the coolest parts about this toy is the lights on it- Yes, lightS with an 's'. It has two, one is a bright blue light that shows you the battery strength- when the batteries are getting low it will go dim, so you know you're not getting the most out of your vibe and you can change them before it goes dead on you mid-session. The other light changes depending on the setting you're on. It goes like this-
Low - Green
Medium - Yellow
High - Red
The patterns have the light flash along with them, and it's pretty cool to see. The patterns are as follows...
1st Pattern - Cycles from medium to high very quickly, flashing between yellow and red. Feels throbby, and great when used with an insertable toy.
2nd Pattern - Medium-medium-Hiiiiigghhhh Pulse
3rd Pattern - Slowly goes from low all the way up to high, then starts over.
Although I don't typically like patterns, I find these to be useful- mostly the first one, which, as I mentioned, feels so awesome coupled with an insertable toy.
My favorite is pairing it up with the Acute, but anything that transmits vibrations well will do.

Overall, the Mystic Wand is a really awesome toy. It's comparably priced to the other massager style vibrators out there, and it works great as either a massager or a vibrator. It has features the other massager style vibes don't have, like patterns, and its the only one I know of which features, by default, a silicone head. The Mystic Wand is a stand-up addition to anyone's toybox, especially someone who feels the Hitachi is just a little too much for them, and it's amazing how well it works considering it runs on batteries.
Babeland seems to have an (as far as I have seen) exclusive, cool pink color of the Mystic Wand, as well as the sleek, stylish black and white seen here- so I definitely recommend heading over there if you wanna pick one up.
Thanks Babeland for giving me the chance to review this awesome toy!

Pop Plugs Review!

Anal play is something I've been getting into recently, and since I've graduated from an anal beginner's kit, I jumped at the chance to snag a large Pop Plug from Babeland when they had it up for grabs. These plugs are made by Doc Johnson, they're 100% silicone, and they're an adorable pink color. The large comes in at 1 1/2" thick at the bulge, and about 2 1/2" long in total. So, while this is not a particularly huge plug, it is a nice step up from the norm- and it's affordable silicone!

The packaging on these plugs is adorable, but not the most informative I've ever seen. It provides basic information on cleaning and maintaining the toy- since this is silicone, it's really easy. You can use toy cleaner or wipes, soap and water, you can boil it, or you can even use a 10% bleach solution on it! Boiling and bleaching will sanitize the toy, giving it potential to be shared.
The downside to this being silicone is that you can't use silicone lube with it. I had some water based anal lube left from the kit, and it worked fine, but that is the only kind of lubricant that works with silicone- so be careful!

These toys are firm. I knew Doc Johnson had been experimenting with silicone toys lately, but I hadn't heard anything as to the firmness of their particular blend. It's not quite as hard as Tantus silicone, but it comes very close. There is not much give in this toy at all. They have a nice matte texture, which makes them feel smooth and gives lube a nice surface to stick to- so you don't have to worry about your lube running away on you.

When it came time to try out these plugs.. I found it a challenge. All the other plugs I'd had were a very gradual taper, whereas these are more spade-shaped and they flare out quickly. Because it was so firm, I had no problem inserting the toy, but it still took a couple sessions to get used to. Finally, I managed the whole thing and could keep it inserted.
However, something about it just did not sit right with me. I could keep it in, and I could walk around with it to some extent, since the base wasn't too extremely wide, but it felt uncomfortable. Like it wanted to go further in, or out altogether. I've looked at the difference between this and my other anal toys, and I think this is because the neck is too short for me. If it was a bit longer, or if the toy had a bit more stretch and give to it, I think it would have been great. As it is, it's nice to play with, but I can't wear it around comfortably.

Despite that, the feeling of 'popping' this plug in and out is really intense. I'm not used to it, so it almost hurts, but it's an oddly warm, pleasurable feeling. It is, however, wonderful for opening me up a little to make me more receptive to my other toys. A lot of the time I just get tense, but after a few 'pops' in and out, I'll be more relaxed and more stretched. Perhaps as I play with it more, it will become easier for me to wear it for long periods of time. Wearing it was one of the big draws of this toy for me, because the little handle, which is great for removal, could also be used for tying things on or attaching things. A collar, a bow, some kind of fluffy tail or feathers- something cute to ornament my ass for my lover, without spending $80 on a plug with those things permanently attached. It provided a 'do it yourself' kind of appeal to ass ornamentation.

I will not give up on this plug, since I suspect my inexperience to be part of the problem, but as it stands- it's good for playing, but not as much for plugging. On the upside, my partner is deathly afraid of anal play and this thing is so cute it could probably sway him, if I did manage to get a nice gift bow attached.

Overall, I recommend checking out these plugs if you're looking for some simple, affordable silicone for your butt. There are sizes that accommodate any level of experience, its easy to clean and take care of, and even if the neck is too short for your particular anatomy as well, it is great for a normal session of anal play that doesn't include wearing it out all day.
Thank you Babeland for allowing me to pop 'n play with this adorable plug!

  • Liberator Axis Hitachi by Carnivalesq

  • Epiphora commented that “the Hitachi takes up like entire vulva,” and therefore wanted to know “if I have to like buttsex to have it work for partner play.” I argue that the Hitachi does not take up the whole vulva, but recognize that I may, in fact, be super human.

Note: Carnivalesq’s Illustrated Axis Hitachi Positioning Guide is just awesome and you should read it. ‘Nuff said.

10 Function Teardrop

So, this time my task as a Cal Exotics Sexpert was to size up the lovely bullet you see to your left. The bullet is made of ABS plastic, with a large TPR sleeve over it. The TPR sleeve is removable, and the entire setup is waterproof.

I did give the toy a shot with the sleeve on, but I found that it really dampened the vibrations a lot, and was actually so big that it made it impossible to insert- something that can usually be done with waterproof bullets, but sadly, not with this one unless you take the sleeve off.

The vibrations are very high pitched, and the toy really does have awesome functions. I honestly cannot describe all of them, but it has a low, medium, and high constant speed, and then 7 different functions ranging from pulsation to escalation to patterns.. it's really quite nice. The bullet, sans sleeve, is also standard sized so it can be used to replace vibrating disposable bullets in other toys, or if you want to enhance your vibrating toys with some more power and functions.

It's amazing to me, but, once again, the entire thing is fully waterproof. I didn't submerge it, but it withstood a shower and a good cleaning with ease. The bullet has a tight seal around where the wire enters- the seal is not flexible, but looking at it, it seems very sturdy and as I said it worked fine for me. The battery pack takes 2 AA batteries, and seals very, very tightly. It can be a bit hard to open once you've closed it, but it just reassures me that it is, indeed, waterproof.

Speaking of cleaning- it's really quite easy. The sleeve can be removed to be washed inside and out, and the bullet and control pack are entirely waterproof, and they can be washed with soap and water, toy cleaner, or toy wipes. This toy is compatible with water based and silicone lubes, although you should stay away from oil based ones because they may damage the TPR sleeve.

The controls on this toy are nice, it has one button to cycle through the functions and one button that turns the toy on and off. The toy will turn on on the lowest steady vibration intensity, and pressing the function button will change the strength, then start cycling through the functions of the toy. There is a light indicator on the toy that indicates vibration intensity, and seeing it flash along with the functions can be pretty neat. I was also very pleasantly surprised at how quiet this toy is. It's not totally silent, but you could definitely get away with using this behind a closed door, or even just under covers. The noise is easily covered up by a TV or fan, if you're still nervous about being caught.

Now that I've run through all the features of this toy, I have to say that, in my opinion, it's really quite nice- but NOT for the intended purpose. As a clitoral stimulator, the bullet is just too high pitched for me, however the functions are great, and it has a couple that are a bit of a combination of pulsation and escalation and they feel nice- very throbby, when inserted into a toy.
I do think this is a nice pitch for foreplay vibrations, and of course there are people who like buzzy vibrators as opposed to low pitched ones, so if you know you like a high pitched vibe, go for it. This bullet is really, really nice, even if you don't like the sleeve, and if you have any toys that have a slot for a bullet to be inserted, but you dislike the single speed type of bullet? this would be great for you.

It wont be seeing much solo use from me- but my Tantus Techno has found a new best friend, that's for sure.
